NGAIRC Advisors provide strategic guidance to strengthen our research direction, partnerships, and real-world impact. They support our teams through mentorship, expert feedback, and collaborative opportunities across academia and industry.

Professor Joarder Kamruzzaman is the Founding Advisor of NGAIRC and a Professor of Information Technology at Federation University Australia, with research interests in sensor networks, IoT, machine learning, and cybersecurity. He has authored 250+ peer-reviewed publications, served in major international conference leadership roles, and has been an Editor of Elsevier’s Journal of Network and Computer Applications since 2012. He has also secured significant competitive research funding and received multiple research awards.

Dr. Mohammad Manzurul Islam is an Australian academic and researcher specializing in machine learning, trustworthy artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and IoT systems. He is the Founding Research Director of the Next Generation Artificial Intelligent Research Centre (NGAIRC), where he leads international, interdisciplinary research collaborations. Dr. Islam holds a PhD from Federation University Australia and currently serves as an Associate Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at East West University, Bangladesh. His work focuses on impactful, ethical, and data-driven AI solutions addressing real-world societal challenges.

Dr. Mohammad Manzurul Islam

Founding Research Director (Academic and Innovation)

Dr. Abdullahi Chowdhury is the Founding Research Director (Collaboration and Partnership) at NGAIRC and an Online Course Facilitator with Adelaide University Online and Learning Futures. He holds a PhD from Federation University Australia (2020) and brings over a decade of industry experience across Telstra, the Australian Taxation Office, and Australia Post. His research spans cybersecurity, AI and machine learning, data analytics, and intelligent transportation systems, with 35+ peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Abdullah Chowdhury

Lead Researchers

Drive specific research themes or projects, coordinate teams, and translate ideas into publishable and deployable outputs. They mentor researchers and ensure technical rigor.

Fariha is a self-driven, passionate early career researcher with a vision to improve cybersecurity risk/security awareness in interdisciplinary research areas. Her research area focuses on cybersecurity, digital health, Artificial Intelligence (AI), human aspects of security, data security, and efficient record management. She also possesses good communication and interpersonal relationship management skills, which enable her to work in various leadership positions and to work effectively as part of a team.

Dr. Fariha Jaigirdar

Lead Researcher (Diversity, Inclusion and Human-Centred AI)

MD SAWKAT ALI is an Associate Professor of CSE at East West University, Bangladesh. He earned his Ph.D. and M.Eng. in Electrical Engineering from Australian universities (CQU and UNSW). Formerly a Post-Doctoral Fellow at CQU and Deakin University, his research includes IoT, machine learning, power electronics, and renewable energy.
